People. It’s always about people.
They are your most valuable asset as well as your most crucial point of failure.
I’ve seen bad projects succeed and good projects go bad because of a handful of people. The deciding factor of a good team isn’t skill or knowledge, it’s willingness to collaborate with, trust and improve each other.
I have a penchant for team-work and help define a common goal. Together, we can achieve that by dispelling assumptions, defining our missions, strategies and working towards that goal. As a team.
I like visualising what we do, where our problems lie and how we want to tackle them.
Inspiring people to give the best of themselves, learn more, foster change and be ready for (self) improvement is what I love most and do best.
In every project I’ve participated in, my most personal achievements have come from nudging other people, energising testers or redirecting a team to a different focus.

Panel discussion @AAdays Poland
Do you need someone to…
- Ask difficult questions that prompt important answers;
- Support a team to figure out how to get from testing what they need;
- Support a test team to focus on the things that matter;
- Coach testers to become more motivated & effective.
… then have a chat with me.
“I started as a very junior tester in the same team Beren was part of. He provided me with lots of learning possibilities and taught me a lot about testing. Partly because of his enthusiasm, I started a blog, did a 99-second talk and hope to soon speak at an international conference.”

Knowledge sharing @TestBash Brighton
“I have experienced Beren as a team player and a leader. A
leader who brings structure and dynamics in the team of testers, but also goes on the barricades if the team is under discussion.”
– Project Manager, 2016
“I could ask Beren anything and he would go out of his way to find an effective solution. He did not assume, he questioned everything, detected problems and immediately suggested options to solve them.”
– Business lead in high profile project, 2015
